So, Max & I got out and ran some errands yesterday before the rain sat in. Max was such a great baby throughout it all!!! We dropped off a thank you note at a neighbor's house (a whole other blog topic!); went to the bank; took some dresses to a formal consignment shop (including two of my high school prom dresses!!!); went by the post office; and finally made our last stop at The Promise House.
The Promise House is a home for teenage girls who are pregnant and whom have either been court-ordered to stay there or referred there by DHS. It is actually just down the street from our house (near the Baptist Hospital campus). I have lived in LR all of my life and never knew it existed! The Promise House is a part of Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes, which helps children and families all over Arkansas who are in a crisis situation.
I learned about The Promise House through Kelly's Korner. Kelly blogged about the maternity clothing drive that the Promise House was doing & I decided to participate. Max & I took some maternity things and some baby items by there to donate. We took a tour of the house and got to meet a few of the girls that are currently staying there. It was such a humbling experience to learn about some of the residents' stories and what all The Promise House does for these girls. It is truly a wonderful program. If you have some maternity clothes/items that you are willing to donate, these girls would LOVE to have them! Check out their website here for a list of other things that they need.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
